Pursuant to the December 2021 Attorney General Guideline “Promoting Diversity in Law Enforcement Recruiting and Hiring,” the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is committed to doing all that we can to hiring staff who reflect the communities that we serve. See N.J.S.A. 52:17B-4.10. 2019 Census Data indicates that Monmouth County’s population is 75% White, 7% Black, 11% Hispanic, and 5% Asian.  As of December 31, 2022, the MCPO had 76 detectives: 68% were white, 11% were black, 14% Hispanic and 4% were Asian. Although our diversity numbers are higher than the 2019 census data for Black and Hispanic detectives, only 12% of our detectives are women. Through job fairs, such as the outreach event held by the Monmouth County Chiefs of Police at Brookdale Community College last year, and community- and faith-based events, many held in conjunction with our Countywide Chaplaincy Program, we will continue to strive to increase the number of female detectives on staff and enhance our efforts to seek diverse applicants to join our office.
