Pursuant to the December 2021 Attorney General Guideline “Promoting Diversity in Law Enforcement Recruiting and Hiring,” the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is committed to doing all that we can to hiring staff who reflect the communities that we serve. See N.J.S.A. 52:17B-4.10. 2023 Census Data indicates that Monmouth County’s population is 84.7 percent White, 7.3 percent Black, 11.7 percent Hispanic, and 5.8 percent Asian. As of December 31, 2022, the MCPO had 76 detectives: 68 percent were White, 11 percent were Black, 14 percent were Hispanic, and 4 percent were Asian. Although our diversity numbers are higher than the 2019 census data for Black and Hispanic detectives, 12 percent of our detectives are women. Through job fairs, such as outreach events held at Kean and Monmouth Universities, along with faith-based events, many held in conjunction with our Countywide Chaplaincy Program and Houses of Worship, we will continue to strive to increase the number of female detectives on staff and enhance our efforts to seek diverse applicants to join our office.
