FREEHOLD – A 70-year-old New York woman has died as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle along Rt. 9 in Freehold Township Sunday evening.

Lydia O. Lim, 70, of Long Island City, N.Y. was crossing Route 9 at approximately 5:52 p.m. when she was struck in the southbound left lane by a 2011 Mercedes Benz C300.  Lim was pronounced dead at 6:33 p.m. at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township.

During the course of the event, the Mercedes Benz was struck from the rear by a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  All involved were taken to CentraState Medical Center where they were treated and released, with the exception of the driver of the Mercedes Benz. That driver remains hospitalized in good condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, and Freehold Township Police Department.
