Former Band Director Pleads Guilty to Stealing $2,300 from League Account
FREEHOLD – The former director of the Manasquan High School Warrior Band pled guilty to stealing about $2,300 from the organization between 2015 and 2016, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
On September 24, Alan Abraham, 60, of Belmar, pled guilty to one count of third degree Theft by Unlawful Taking in front of Superior Court Judge Vincent N. Falcetano.
Abraham was charged following an investigation that began in April 2017, after the Office’s Financial Crimes Unit received a referral that Abraham received money which was designated for the benefit of the Manasquan High School Warrior Band.
The investigation determined that between 2015 and 2016 Abraham stole about $2,300 from the group while serving as the director. Abraham deposited checks and transferred funds that should have been for the benefit of the school band, but instead those funds were deposited into his personal account and used for his own personal benefit.
As part of his plea agreement, the State will recommend that Abraham be sentenced to probation and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2300.00 to the Manasquan Board of Education. Abraham will also be barred from any type of future public employment.
Abraham is scheduled to be sentenced on December 3, 2018 in front of Judge Falcetano.
The case was prosecuted by Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Diane Aifer.
Abraham is represented by Charles J. Uliano of West Long Branch
