FREEHOLD – A 67-year-old Freehold woman died as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle along Route 9 in Freehold Township Wednesday evening, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Marie R. Casalino, 67, of Freehold Township, was crossing Route 9 in front of the Freehold Mall around 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, when she was struck in the northbound right lane by a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara driven by Nicholas C. Berenbroick, 23, also of Freehold Township. Casalino was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:21 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Freehold Township Police Department.
