FREEHOLD – A Highlands man was arrested early this morning after eluding police for more than 12 hours. The incident began with the suspect fleeing from a routine motor vehicle stop by an Atlantic Highlands police officer earlier in the day, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
The incident culminated with the deployment of a Conductive Energy Device (CED) to subdue the suspect after he failed to surrender while taunting police outside his 14th floor apartment early Friday morning. This was the first time a Monmouth County law enforcement officer has deployed a CED to subdue a suspect since the tool was first authorized for use in New Jersey.
